Private 5G + IoMT for a specialty cancer center.

A private 5G deployment paired with IoMT enablement at a specialty cancer center serving urban and rural patients. Mobile infusion fleet brought online, new telehealth capability for satellite clinics, and full visibility into 1,800+ connected medical devices.

Challenge

Ridgewater operates a flagship cancer center plus four rural satellites. Wi-Fi alone wasn't carrying their imaging suites or mobile infusion fleet — and their biomedical team had no live inventory of connected devices, only an annual spreadsheet that everyone agreed was out of date.

Adding to the pressure: the center had committed to a telehealth program for rural follow-up visits, but the satellite-site connectivity wasn't ready. Every dropped video call was a clinical event that needed rescheduling — and rescheduling chemo follow-ups is not a casual exercise.

Ridgewater needed three things from one partner: predictable wireless, IoMT visibility, and telehealth-grade satellite connectivity. Medical ANS won on the strength of the joint T-Mobile design review.

Solution

We deployed a private 5G network at the flagship cancer center — engineered with T-Mobile's healthcare solution engineering team — covering the imaging suite, infusion fleet, and mobile clinical workstations. RF survey, antenna placement, and SIM lifecycle management were all under the Medical ANS engagement.

Medigate went in as the IoMT discovery and classification engine, integrated with our segmentation policy. Within 60 days, the biomedical team had a live inventory 2.3× the size of the prior spreadsheet — and a workflow for getting newly-identified devices under policy without disrupting clinical operations.

At the four rural satellites, we deployed T-Mobile 5G fixed wireless as primary connectivity with carrier-grade SLAs, with broadband as a secondary path. Telehealth-grade QoS was engineered end-to-end. Within 90 days, telehealth completion rates climbed from 71% to 96%.

Results

  • 1,847 — Connected medical devices brought under management
  • 96% — Telehealth completion rate (from 71% baseline)
  • 5 sites — Flagship + 4 rural satellites under managed services
  • 99.999% — Uptime on connected medical devices, trailing 6 months
  • 0 — Clinical workflow disruptions during IoMT segmentation rollout
"Our biomedical team and our IT team finally work from the same inventory. The infusion fleet is more reliable than the wired imaging room was three years ago."
